In metal music there is:. Thrash metal: fast paced guitars and double bass drum with yelling, shrieking, or screamed vocals. Metalcore: fast paced heavy guitar riffs combined with slow paced breakdowns. Features both screamed and clean vocals. Black metal: fast tempo, heavily distorted lo-fi sound with an emphasis on creepy and gothic atmosphere.
Features shrieked vocals. All of these are metal sub-genres. All of these feature some sort of screaming. All of these sound different. None of these are screamo. Not all heavy metal is screamo. It's not for everybody, but at least listen to the right bands before you give your final opinion.
Xcel , May 2, Guys, I got that I was wrong. Shouldn't have stereotyped in the first place. I changed the title and the the text will be edited as well replacing Heavy Metal with Screamo. I have just listened to Metallica and didn't find it as terrible as that. Once again, sorry for this stupid stereotype. It's the Screamo that I really hate. If I had one, it'd most likely be "SmolSkel". Hey, I'm sure it'll be good if you don't have ears Anyways, I like rhythms to music.
For example, I like "Cake by the Ocean" due to the beat and everything. I couldn't care less about the lyrics. I usually have my music down to the lowest volumes, anyways. Piano is my favourite dynamic level allowing me to focus but still enjoy the music. Thus, screamo is like Hell to me. Messages: 3, Likes Received: 9, Minecraft: momand. I personally like a few screamo bands, and metal is very good. But once you get into this sense of screamo, you understand how shitty some screamo bands are:.
TreeKillerMan , Netherr , momand and 2 others like this. Dead , May 2, You know they have Christian Screamo? It's basically some guys screaming the gospel with some drums behind it. It scared me as a small child. CycleSpence , May 3, Messages: 4, Likes Received: 9, Minecraft: Strikyn.
Strikyn , May 3, Therefore it is real music. Music is all about letting out your emotions in the beat and words, we, the people who love it, love the emotion and energy it puts off makes us feel alive and free. Other people understand how we feel. I also need eleven more words sorry about this. See you. Why do you get to decide what is and isn't music. Get educated and actually listen to the music before stating you're opinion ok.
Just because the males singers actually sound like men and everything is intensified does not mean metal is not music. Listen to the music and try to understand what is being said. Most bands sing about pain, government, having a good time with friends, love, anger, sadness, history, thoughts, ideas, religion, darkness, light, good bad, etc etc.
Pop or "normal music" clubbing, getting laid, drinking, gang crap, etc etc. Just because you can't handle the music doesn't mean its not. The definition of music is vocal or instrumental sounds or both combined in such a way as to produce beauty of form, harmony, and expression of emotion. Therefore by definition it is music. Also I'd like to say that the way some of it sung aka screaming doesn't change the fact that it is.
It's no less music then rap, pop, or even country. Plus, I'd also like to add that the screaming and understanding it is an acquired thing. You are taking things out of context. I know exactly what he was trying to say. I don't feel like arguing because I will never understand why people like it. I tried to like it once, but that didn't go well.
Its actually rather wicked. Of course I mean in a good way. It generally is twenty times more poetic than a vast majority of mainstream. Poetic definition: possessing the qualities or charm of poetry. I'm sorry, but the vast majority of screamo music does not fit the build.
Neither does a lot of today's music, like you said. In fact lyrically the words and subject matter of most screamo music can be considered pretty main stream now. Please note that mainstream encompasses a lot more than pop music.
In fact one of the only thing that makes screamo music stand out is titular "screaming. I'm not insulting your taste of music. I am, however, critiquing your word choice. Poetic is simply not the right word to be used for. Other words that would have been a lot more appropriate would have been: meaningful, deep, resonating, piercing, soulful, etc. What i'm getting at is the fact that while poetry is a very versatile label it does not translate well to music, of any variety.
I'm also not saying that there are no poetic screamo bands. Instead i'm saying that the vast majority of them, like the vast majority of musicians, aren't poetic. Its not the genre that matters i So what do you find "Poetic"? I don't see the issue with not understanding what they're saying. There's a countless number of websites that have the lyrics typed out, so you're distaste of Screamo music really has nothing to do with understanding what they're saying, you're just not willing to listen.
That's true. I personally have no issue with understanding what is being said unless they're frying, that's just going a little over-board. But even still, options remain, instead of bashing a genre, people should just not listen to it.
But that's just my opinion, I guess.. Toots and the Maytals. Given the the negativity your receiving you apparently CAN'T in fact find poetry in non-screaming, or maybe its non-mainstream, music. Personally, i like SOME screamo, and some of the lyrics really are genious. Try listening to some when you are angry, its awesome :D. It takes alot of skill to do screamo actually, its not just screaming at the top of your lungs randomly.
It takes alot of practice using your diaphram correctly when doing inhale or exhale screams. Most of the popular music today rap, pop is all edited and enhanced with computers. I'm not saying screamo isn't, but there are definitely some great screamo artists out there. It's good to keep your mind open to all music though, don't just judge an overall type because you can't fully understand it, or because the artists in that type of genre typically dress a certain way.
Alot of screamo can be really poetic and deep if you take the time to listen to it, and that goes for any other genre really. Scream for ice cream : yes i know, this was just for all of the people who were bashing on screamo :.
This is the thing that really annoys me, every time I say I don't like one thing or another someone has to bring out "I bet you can't do it, it takes lots of skill". I couldn't care less how hard it is to do, I am only worried about if it sounds good to me or not.
In my opinion it is wasted talent. Why scream? You can show strong emotion in a different way. I personally don't care about how the band looks, but screaming is just a waste. It is under appreciated. Theres so much more put into a screamo song than a mainstream pop or rap song.
Not everything that's not screamo is mainstream. Actually a lot of indie rock bands are WAY more talented than a lot of screamo bands, and mainstream artists. Oh sorry, I have a bad habit of using alright to mean something like spectacular lol Eels are actually really good!
My favorite band is the Strokes, though. I think they were and still are one of the best bands ever. Yeah the strokes are great. Julian Cassablancas did a pretty neat solo album to, which you might be interested in. Yeah, it was fucking brilliant. I liked that he didn't try to sound like the Strokes on it.
Like Albert's solo project was cool but it was too similar to the Strokes. I can't wait till their 4th album. Oh cool you heard it already. I'm looking forward to their 4th album too. Do you like the band Cake? And a lot of indie rock bands suck more dick than Perez Hilton. Including bands you like. Get used to it. It's a deep and poetic Latin term for "the damaged". In more ancient languages, it's been traced to mean "I don't know how to fucking sing".
Music is music. People will have different tastes in music and the fact that people are bashing it just because they don't like it makes them immature. Well, i didn't like it at first, but once you get use to it, you like it. So give it a chance, and not be a sterotype. I find it very relaxing and enjoyable. And i think everyone forgets about how much talent most screamo guitarists, bassists, and drummers have. Way more than anything mainstream artists have. It takes a bit of getting use to.
I never thought I would like it but now that's about the only thing I listen to. The best way I've tried to explain it to people, is imagine if someone was singing a Screamo verse instead of screaming it. It would sound a lot worse in my opinion. I think the screaming helps compliment the fast paced nature of the style of music itself.
It is under-appreciated. It's a lot like communism, and Jay Leno. Nah, I'm just kidding, guys. I hate Jay Leno. The lyrics are fine I don't really like it I like indie music too, as a matter of fact I liste- to everything Not to say indie music ska music, even jazz.
Just like any genere, you have to weed out the bad stuff. Then, once you have sampled the good stuff, come back and make a comment. If you don't like it, fine. That's your opinion and you're very well entitled to it.
